Steps to a Highly Successful Direct Sales Facebook Party
Choose a Theme
One way to think about a theme for your direct sales Facebook party is to think in terms of books, movies, TV shows, and any trending topics. Think of all the ideas out there! Harry Potter, Star Wars, Dr. Seuss, Golden Girls even!
Trending topics make great Facebook party theme ideas too. From award shows to the hot topic of the week (Starbucks unicorn frap anyone?), it is easy to turn one great idea into a direct sales Facebook theme party that will wow your hostess and the guests.
Create an Outline
The first thing you’ll want to do once you have chosen your Facebook party theme is to create a simple outline of how you want the party to go. From the pre-party posts to the actual party posts, it helps to write a timeline of how you want the party to flow and what information you want to include.
If you get a little stuck when it comes to this part, it helps to follow a proven direct sales Facebook party template that you can use time and time again. A successful repeatable Facebook party outline means you won’t ever have to wonder how to hit those month-end goals again!
Create Original Graphics
The graphics for your Facebook party are one of the key parts of having a successful direct sales Facebook party. Use your chosen Facebook party theme to create templates in Canva. Canva makes it super easy to do this! Choose a fun template to work with, change up the background, and start creating! All of my images and post pictures you see on this blog were ALL made with Canva!
Once you have these templates set for all of your Facebook party posts, you will easily be able to update the images and text on your graphics for each and every Facebook party you do. Make sure to include product images, fun games, and include a call to action on every post.
Focus on Call To Action Posts
With each of your posts in your Facebook theme party, you will want to ask the guests to do something. That might be to comment on their favorite item or answer a fun question related to your Facebook party theme. It is also a great idea to have your Facebook party guests to join your Facebook VIP Group and other social media channels.
The most important call to action is to have the Facebook party guests shop and engage with your products and company! Encourage questions, make personal recommendations, and above all, make it easy for someone to order. Explaining the ordering process is crucial and can mean the difference between someone ordering or not.
Engage with your audience, get your hostess involved, and use this theme Facebook party as a template for your next one! With the help of a scheduler, you will be able to repeat fabulous theme Facebook parties over and over again resulting in more monthly sales, social media growth, and potential new team members. Find some great hostesses and party on!
Everything I Wish I Knew When Starting My Direct Sales Business
When I started selling through direct sales (definition: the marketing and selling of products directly to consumers away from a fixed retail location) , I went into it completely blind with no prior experience. I had worked retail as a young woman, but I think I had been to one candle party and one Mary Kay party back when I was a little girl with my mom. I had been courted before by a few different companies. Both of these experiences were a little creepy, and I knew in my gut that I didn’t want to be involved in anything like that. Not to disrespect the companies in any way of course, but there was sort of a no-hold-barred-cultish-ness to the way I was approached and I just knew that it felt icky.
Fast forward to when I discovered It Works via a friend, it just didn’t give me that same ‘ick’ feeling. The product was cool and the girls selling it were just like me. Normal. Interested in health and getting their bodies to a state they liked. And just wanted to make a little extra money.
I have learned some valuable things along the way that I wish I would have known – about leadership and business in general. Sharing them is the best thing I can do to pay it forward – and perhaps dispel some myths about starting your own direct sales business.
There will ALWAYS be people who think your business is a Pyramid Scheme.
What is a Pyramid Scheme anyway? I have heard that so many times, especially from older people that doubt the business model. They obviously have had that ‘ick’ feeling somewhere along the way also. By definition on Wikipedia: A pyramid scheme is an unsustainable business model that involves promising participants payment or services, primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme, rather than supplying any real investment or sale of products or services to the public.
Well that does sound a little icky! But most businesses like mine and other competitors out there these days are far from a pyramid scheme. They are sustainable, above-board businesses that cut out the middle-man (retailer) and sell direct to customer. Especially if they offer multiple products like we have.
However MLM’s or multi-level marketing can be a different animal: Again on Wikipedia: The network marketing or multi-level marketing (MLM) business has become associated with pyramid schemes. According to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, many MLM schemes “simply use the product to hide their pyramid structure”. While some people call MLMs in general “pyramid selling,” others use the term to denote an illegal pyramid scheme masquerading as an MLM.
Okay so both the terms Pyramid Scheme and MLM’s give direct marketing and sales businesses a bad rap. So be prepared to answer these questions from nay-sayers early on the game. Because you will be running across them frequently from doubters and or maybe people who just don’t want to buy from you anyway. The sooner you know the difference and the sooner you know more about your company’s mission that you can recite verbatim, the easier it is to put these questions to bed! Nothing is worse than fumbling for answers! Or wondering yourself: Is it a pyramid scheme? #badrap
Not everyone that is in your inner circle will support your business. And that is okay.
The sooner you accept this, the better off you will be. Because it is actually easier to sell and deal with people that ARE NOT in your circle. Business is business and in a direct sales business, starting off with friends and family is common practice and quite accepted. However, the sooner that you get out of the friends and family circle, the better things will be for you. It is much easier to sell product to people that really want to buy it because they love it and they don’t feel guilted into it. Because if they do, and then they don’t love what they bought, you will have to deal with that later anyhow! If you are selling a good product that YOU love and YOU believe in, get out there and find other people that do too. It’s as simple as that. #workhard
You have to be willing to work hard.
We get paid a great commission for selling. Most direct sales companies pay between 15-30% on product sales, and even more with team commissions. But you have to work to get those sales. They almost NEVER fall in your lap. If I have heard it once, I have heard it 25 times. “I am just going to give it a try and see if it takes off.” Just know that it will NEVER take off without any gas in the engine!! “I am just going to play it low-key and see where I end up.” That will be no where. Because it doesn’t just happen. Unless you are coming from another very successful direct sales business where you had a massive customer base or a team of 10,000 people underneath you that want to join you on your new venture.
I certainly knew that I had to work hard to get my business off the ground, but building a team and getting other people into the business so that I could earn more commissions, I learned that not everyone wants to work that hard. It’s a frustration that drove me crazy for a long while. And I couldn’t figure out why they didn’t know this?! There are multiple legs in this type of business and the sooner you realize that all you can control is your own actions, the better off you will be. #hopeisnotastrategy
Success is whatever YOU want it to be.
In a business like this it is very easy to get caught up in comparisons. Because really, everyone is doing the same Lather-Rinse-Repeat steps, just maybe at different speeds or with different techniques. But you don’t go to university and learn the ‘trade’ of direct-sales, like you would learn drafting or engineering or micro-biology. So it is very easy to look at others and wonder why they are more successful than you. For awhile I got caught up in our inner-world of titles and comparison.
This made it all too easy to fall into a trap of negativity and losing steam. It took me a while to get to the place of being happy with my own measure of success. But that also means not achieving every company goal, or not earning the plaques and incentives that they challenge us with each season. Learning not to compare yourself with others and sticking to your own barometer will help you be successful in the long run. #hardlesson After all, we are all entrepreneurs, and we do this business so that we can work for ourselves. Because we are our own weirdos!
Keep all of this in mind while launching (or continuing) your direct sales business. You will be not only happier but it’s likely you will do better! Have any tips you want to share? Leave a comment below!

Here are some stats so far for May after applying my new strategy:
- 5 parties held
- 9 parties booked
- 198 new contacts
Here are some basic tips for a Facebook party:
1. Introduce yourself.
By the end of the party you will want one thing to stick out more than anything else. YOU. The place where a lot of business owners go wrong is thinking you are selling your product. That’s not your goal. You are selling you. Whether it’s a homemade product you made, a direct sales business (like Mary Kay or Cutco), or a service you provide – the most important thing is to leave an impression of YOU!
2. Use a virtual “catalog.”
One of the first things people do at home party is pass out or display their catalog. Do the same on Facebook! Be careful to not flood them with different things to buy. Pick the products that match your audience! Make a post about each of them showing what they are and why the party goers need it.
3. Roll Call!
15 minutes to a half hour before the party, post something where your guests can check in. This is perfect so that you can get an idea of the size of your attendance and be able to welcome each of them individually. If you are doing a raffle or some sort of virtual “door prize” this is crucial because you don’t want to give something away to someone who never even came in the first place.
4. Figure out the main problem your audience has – and SOLVE it!
You can question your audience about what they need help with or be selective on the type of audience you invite. Then, give them the answer to their problem! This not only shows that you care but also plants the seed with them that you have what they need.
5. Game It Up!
A call-to-action to book a party is key in getting multiple bookings at home parties. Turns out it works for Facebook parties, too. While you’re introducing the party or interacting with guests – make it clear that you will be giving away a prize and participation is required to be entered! You can do fun games like Bingo Simon Says, or even something simple like asking a question. This not only gets your guests interacting – but it also gives you a great idea for how to connect with them personally.
There are tons of ways you can get a survey through to your guests and this is one of my biggest areas that I pay attention to. This gives you so much help in things like – Follow Ups, Creating repeat customers, and knowing how to tweak future events to be more user friendly.
7. Follow Up!
This is such an important step, I can’t stress that enough. You need to remind them of who you are and what they need. I always suggest doing it the following after noon or anytime after as long as it follows in the timeline of 7 days after the party. Ask if they had any questions, see if they are ready to check out, and you can tell them about any future events!
If you follow this general idea for the party you should be building your business in no time!! Don’t forget to grab your free Facebook Event PlannerFacebook Event Planning printable!

Have a wonderful day everyone!
Social Media is EVERYWHERE! Use your marketing wisely!
That’s why when you are running your own business, understanding social media and the marketing behind them is CRUCIAL! Here are some tricks and tips that I have either learned myself, or have gotten from other professionals!
#1: Host Social Media Events
You can build a loyal, raving community by hosting online events that put the focus on your fans.
The event can last as long as 24 hours or more and is a great way to discover new businesses, get more fans, and build tremendous community!
Many page owners launch a “Fan Page Friday” event every week. I highly recommend every 4-6 weeks. Why? Anticipation! If you have something every week you are more likely to get people to not show up to them because they will always say “Oh, I can just do it next week.”
Be sure to include a hashtag like #FacebookFriday, #ThursdayTweetFest or anything similar to your event. Schedule your initial invitation to go out very early in the morning. Then add another couple of invitations throughout the day.
#2: Use LinkedIn’s “Your Day” Feature
Sync your contacts and your calendar with LinkedIn and the “Your Day” feature will give you an opportunity to more deeply communicate and engage with your network, especially as this feature is new and most people aren’t using it. Strike while the iron is hot!
It will also tell you if your followers are having a birthday or anything!
Your average Facebook user probably gets between 50 and 100 congratulations on his or her birthday. They might get one or two on LinkedIn. Who’s going to stand out?
If one of your contacts just got promoted in a company that you’ve been prospecting, this might be a really great time to reengage with him. And what better way than to congratulate him on his promotion?
How much more business are you likely to close in a face-to-face meeting? What if you could set five additional meetings in the next city you are traveling to? At the very least, you could write the trip off! The announcement section will also show you who in your network lives in a town you’re traveling to and you can set up a meeting right from there.
#3: Use Images!!
If you’re posting on Facebook and not seeing engagement in the form of likes, shares or comments, you’re wasting your precious time. You need fan engagement if you want to continually be seen in the news feed (which is where all the action is on Facebook!).
One simple way to boost your engagement is to use images to amplify your status update with images!
#4: Quality, not quantity!
When it comes to social media, businesses should be rich in quality, not quantity. It’s better to become a master of one or two channels than flounder in many.
When you look at social media channels, a good model is to break them into social platforms vs. social networking sites.
Social platforms are like soapboxes; they allow you to establish your expertise and credibility, but provide a method for feedback and discussion. Examples include blogging, YouTube, podcasting and SlideShare. Think of your social media as a cyber board meeting!
#5: Get the Attention of Influencers
Influencers are important in every industry. They generally have “real” jobs, and are extremely active on social networks, spending their time sharing content and blogging. Getting on their radar is not easy, so to get their attention, you need to give away “content gifts.”
For every six pieces of content shared via social media (think Twitter, for example) four should be pieces of content from your influencer target that are also relevant to your audience. This means that 67% of the time, you are sharing content that is not yours and calling attention to content from your influencer group.
One piece should be original educational content that you have created.
One piece should be sales-related—like a coupon, product notice, press release or some other piece of content that no one will likely pay attention to.
#6: Focus on the Platforms Where Your Customers Are
Social media overwhelm is one of the biggest challenges for small businesses. They think they need to have a presence on every social platform including the latest “shiny object” that comes along. This spreads them too thin and causes wasted time and effort.
The solution is rather simple: if social media makes sense for your business, be where your customers are. Find out where your customers are hanging out online, choose 1 or 2 of those platforms that you enjoy and that align with your business objectives and then focus deeply on those platforms.
There are a number of tactics to help you find where your customers are online such as: ask them (so simple, yet so many business don’t do this), use the search functionality in each of the social channels to see if there are communities talking about your business or topic of interest and use Google Alerts.
#7: Choose Your Image Wisely
It’s been said that an image is worth a thousand words and since the explosive growth of Pinterest, more and more emphasis is being put on images in social media marketing.
Images can help clarify a message and can also quickly grab someone’s attention. Images used in blog posts help the reader to comprehend the content and tend to be more memorable. The images can then be shared across networks like Pinterest, Facebook and Google+ to help promote the content.
However, images are open to interpretation. Before you settle on an image for your blog or social media post, ask yourself “Does this image communicate my message well?”
#8: Communicate With Your LinkedIn Connections
Send an email to your connections on LinkedIn every month and generate leads and sales.
Although LinkedIn only allows you to send to 50 contacts at a time, you can send many emails.
#9: Make Real Life Connections
Connect in real life with your social media network. Take some time to reach out via Skype or even the phone for a quick hello to people who are active in your niche or in a complementary business to yours.
Many times there are great ways to partner up between people in the same niche or there are ways that complementary businesses can be referral partners.
I know every time I have connected in real life either through a conversation or by meeting at a conference, the social media connection is so much richer and more meaningful. If I look at who retweets, shares and comments the most on my posts, it’s usually the people I’ve met in real life in some way.
#10: Build Online Influence
I have a simple philosophy when it comes to social media marketing: build online influence.
Influence is the secret to social media success. It’s the sugar in the cake. It’s the foundation for building an authentic following online that can ultimately lead to new clients or customers. With the social media landscape constantly evolving, new networks, tools and tactics are always going to come and go. You will hear of new tips and tricks daily regarding “what works” for building your brand and your business through social media.
However, without a strong foundation in place that positions you as a person of influence, it will be difficult to sustain success. You can try every social media tool, strategy or tactic available, but without influence at the core, you likely won’t get too far. If you focus on becoming a person of influence in your market, you’ll build more trust and loyalty. People will know that you are sincere and that you truly care about helping them.
#11: Create Loyalty by Participating in One-on-One Dialog
Provide your customers with the most valuable content and insights across your social channels by participating in two-way dialogue on the right channel.
If you find your demographic is most active on Twitter, or congregates in a smaller forum, join that platform, be transparent and participate in one-on-one dialog.
You can actually ask your customer directly online how they feel about a particular topic. Learn about their pain points, what they like, don’t like and take those insights and apply them to better your business. Do not pose broad questions to everyone, but home in on specific individuals who will yield a higher response rate.
More on Private Messaging
You need to proceed with caution when privately messaging followers on social media. Stick to these very simple rules and you should be fine:
- Don’t send or reply without some sort of initiation on there part. Did they like a post? Message them! Did you message/reply to you? Message them! You THINK the product would be great for them from looking at their profile? Don’t message yet! You don’t want to get a reputation for being a hassler.
- Keep it brief! Don’t flood them with information they may not want or need. Give them small bits of info, and clarify when they need it. You could overwhelm them, and that’s not good for either party.
- Keep it professional! No matter what the other person does, always stay professional. Don’t name call, don’t pressure, and definitely don’t hassle them! If they end up changing their minds in the future, you don’t want them to remember you as the person who made them uncomfortable.
There you have it! Have any great marketing tips I missed? Let me know in the comments!
Who doesn’t love having a second income??
Many individuals dream of a second income, yet few manage to put forth the effort and determination in order to produce one. The impact on your personal finances would obviously be substantial, yet so few people actually do it. Why?
The reality is that creating a second income stream is tough. It requires you to, essentially, work outside of work. We all live busy lives, full of work, taking care of the house, spending time with family, and trying to fit in a few moments of recreation. As such, it’s difficult to find time to create a second income stream.
Additionally, a second income stream is basically starting a business, which is difficult. Most new businesses fail to get up and running and the ones that do, can be very slow to develop. Patience and persistence is necessary.
There are so many reasons that you may need that second income
You are a stay at home parent
Bills are piling up
You need extra for savings
You want more money so you can go do fun things
Whatever your reason, you need it! Good news, there are SO MANY ways to earn a second income. Some of them include:
Taking Paid Surveys at Home
But my personal favorite?
Get a Home Business Going
The reality is that it’s easier than you think to build a second income stream. I’ve found that most people are either lazy or distracted with other things in life to put forth the effort to make it happen for them. Everybody thinks a second income would be great, yet nobody does it. They get worried, make up excuses, or whatever they have to, to talk themselves out of it.
In order to get started on this journey, first consider your present skill set. This might be the same skills that you have as a result of your job or maybe some skills that you have picked up as a result of hobbies. Either way, consider whether someone would pay for such skills. If so, you’re already on your way.
Start looking at your network of contacts.
This includes your family, your friends, your co-workers, your customers (although be careful soliciting your business contacts), your neighbors, etc. Are any of these people potential partners? Potential customers? Could any of these people help you get to the next step in this process? Consider all options here!!!
That’s the HARD PART!! After that you just need to decide the path you will take. Will you sell handmade goods online with sites like Etsy? How about starting an eBay business? Or, maybe you want to become a brand ambassador?
When I decided to start my own business I no idea how much fun it would be!
I get to meet people I never would have met otherwise. I get to earn that second income to start saving for the big things I dream of, like buying my own house. The best part? I get to help CHANGE other peoples lives through my business. Curious? Let me explain.
I became very unhealthy a few years ago. The technical term: morbidly obese. It was awful. The second I heard those words I cried. But, for some reason, no matter what I tried nothing helped. I would just end up doing these crash diets that lost weight quickly but then gained it all ack again because I binged after the diet.
Then came It Works!
This brand is all-natural health related. I’ve been using the products for 2 months and have lost 38 pounds. Now, I’m a distributor with them and am EARNING THAT SECOND INCOME! I have been building a strong team of people who are so dedicated to not only getting healthy but changing lives! Sound like you? You can sign up here to be on my team, and earn that second income you want and need!
I started off as just a customer. I tried a bunch of their products, found what I loved, and kept working it! After a while, friends started asking about what I was doing to lose the weight. I told them, and they wanted to join me! So i sent them to my friend as well. Then, what happened next, honestly changed my life. She suggest I signed up as a distributor and the girls would MY CUSTOMERS. So I did. Then came the income. It wasn’t a lot at first, not by a long shot! But, it was enough to entice me. To keep me motivated! I noticed the more time I gave to it, the more I got back. Then suddenly I was hitting all the bonus marks!
If that sounds like something YOU WANT, let’s talk! Already know for sure you want to try the product or sign up as a distributor? Sounds great! If you want to be a distributor keep reading! If you want to lose weight and get healthy, check out this post!
How to Get That Second Income You’ve Always Wanted
First off, you to know why you are doing this and what you want to get from it. Write it down and put it in a place you will see very often. Do a vision board so you know where you are headed. No dream is too big, but there is such thing as dreaming too small. Believe in yourself and know you deserve dreams as big as the Universe to come true. Motivation is key and if you don’t know why you are doing this and if it doesn’t touch your heart and soul, then what’s the point of you doing this?
Signed up? Then you need to follow our Steps to Success. Work this list every month!
1. Be Commission Qualified with your 80bv monthly autoshipment. (My auto ship started off at 160 BV because I LOVED so many of the products already)
2. Get 4 loyal customers.
3. Find 3 Distributors
Repeat, Repeat, Repeat
Following these steps, you will fly through the ranks AND THE BONUSES!
Everyone starts somewhere. You are not going to be to the number 1 money earner in the company your first month. You need to start with realistic expectations and goals. Expectations and goals will get bigger as you accomplish the mini goals along the way. Most people start a business like this to make an extra $500 a month. So That’s a great number to start with and we can increase our goal number every time we accomplish the previous. You should also choose a bigger picture number so you still keep a bigger picture in mind as well. The mini goals will get you toward that bigger picture and when you reach your bigger picture number, then you will be astounded you have to pick an even bigger number.
Here are some of the ways to earn money and bonuses!
1. Wrap Cash – We are wrap girls and guys…we get to sell wraps for cash! How fun is that? So a lot of people want to try it before they make a commitment of any kind. You can let them try one wrap for $25 or a full treatment (4 wraps) for $100.
Here are some of the bonuses you can earn:
3. Customer Gathering Bonus – We love to compensate our people for them sharing the products they love! No selling involved here. We just share our favorite products and our own testimonies….that’s enough to get everyone excited about what we do! As you just learned our loyal customers are the backbone of our business and we want as many as possible. By being a strong customer gathering machine…you will earn a $600 cash bonus each month!
The specifics of the bonus:
1. Gather 60 loyal customers
2. The volume from those loyal customers need to be 3000 in bonus volume (That’s 50 in bonus volume each minimum. Some order more some order less.)
This triggers the bonus!
Fast Start Bonuses! – This is one of my favorite bonuses! One reason is that the bonus is $100 in extra cash paid out each week just for doing your job! Our company doesn’t promote winning vacations and prizes…we want to give you cash for doing your own job. That way you can pay off debt and choose your own vacation destinations.
How to get this $100 bonus:
1. Enroll a new distributor through your website.
2. Help get that distributor launched and started in their business. Your distributor needs to get at least 2 loyal customers in their first 30 days and run their 80bv auto-shipment in their first 30 days.
Once they do those 2 things…you get your $100 paid out on the Friday after it was earned depending on when the weekly pay period ends.
This is a great incentive to find distributors and help them get started. We want to pay you for your passion of It Works and the love of sharing your products.
After that, there a TON of leadership/diamond bonuses!!!

I can’t wait to go on this journey with you all!!
Those words are enough to make even the most organized people crawl under the covers. I personally love tax season! If you stay organized you can fly through it easily! Over the next few weeks I will be going into tax season with tips and advice to help you do just that. We will start with the basics and later will get into the details of preparing, filing, and how to make next year much easier.
Taxes and filing taxes can be stressful and time consuming. Because of this, I wanted to start off this series with giving you some basics to go into it.
Tip # 1: When starting out, your don’t need diligent records. When you mature financially, you will need more. For now, chances are you need basic filing.
Tip #2: Grab a file and label it “2016 Taxes.” This will give you a place to keep all your records for filing this year!
“What kind of documents should I keep?”
This is a question most people ask themselves throughout the year. Debating and deciding what is worth keeping. I covered basics on what paper you should be keeping a few weeks ago, and you can brush up on that to get a little more detail. For now, this is a good list of what you should have in your “2016 Taxes” folder.
1. W-2 from employer
2. 1099-MISC for self-employment
3. 1099-B for brokerage trades (if applicable)
4. 1099-E for interest paid on student loans (if applicable)
5. 1098 showing interest paid on mortgage (if applicable)
6. Documents showing donations, medical expenses, contributions made, etc.
Here are some special forms for personalized situations you may need to know about:

-Interest income is under $1,500
-All your income is wages, interest, or unemployment
-Filing single or married
-No adjustments are needed
-Claiming a standard deduction.
- 1040A – Form to use when you have a more complicated tax file. Here are some qualifications:
-Investments in the IRA
-Invested and made money in stocks
-Total income is under $100,000
-Any age and filing status
-Income is from wages, interest, dividend capital gain, IRA, pensions, unemployment, or social security.
“Should my deductions be itemized or standard?”
Tax deductions come in two forms, Standard and Itemized. Sometimes it can be difficult to decide which one you should file with. If you use a program like TurboTax, submit your information, and they should be able to tell you which one you should use. But, here are some basics.
If the total of your itemized expenses is greater than the standard deduction ($5,800 for single or $11,600 if married) then itemize your deductions.
If the total is smaller, then take the standard.
Again, this was just the basics. Stay tuned over the next few weeks while we dive into things like vocabulary, tracking income, filling our your W-2s, filling, and more!
Have a great weekend!
